Gartner Acquires Machina Research and more

Machina Research – IoT analyst firm, Machina Research has been acquired by Gartner as part of its strategy of expanding its IoT research offerings. Founded in 2011, Machina Research’s analyst team will transition in its entirety to Gartner, including founders Jim Morrish and Matt Hatton. Gartner has more than 1,450 research analysts and consultants, with clients in 90 countries.

CRN – Phil Harvey has joined CRN as Managing Editor of news. His areas of coverage include technology, telecommunications and IoT. Harvey previously spent 13 years with Light Reading, first as a Senior Editor and then as Editor-in-Chief. CRN has a circulation of 500,000 readers.

PCIA – After 67 years, the national trade association PCIA, has changed its name to the Wireless Infrastructure Association (WIA), in a move to better represent its growing membership. The “PCIA” moniker was created in 1995 at a time when the association primarily advocated on behalf of the personal communications infrastructure industry. However, in 2004, the association’s emphasis shifted to focus on wireless infrastructure. WIA’s annual Wireless Infrastructure Show brings together more than 3,000 attendees from across the wireless infrastructure ecosystem.
