Mitch Wagner departs Light Reading: Mitch Wagner (@mitchWagner) has left Light Reading (@Light_Reading) after six years. According to Mitch, he is “looking into other options now and excited for the future.”

Knewz officially launches: News Corp. has officially launched its news distribution service, Knewz (@knowknewz). The aggregation service is intended to offer an alternative to Google and Facebook, according to The Wall Street Journal. The site, which includes a science and technology section, can be accessed at www.knewz.com.

Shuffle at Gizmodo: Andrew Couts (@AndrewCouts) has been upped to deputy editor at Gizmodo (@Gizmodo). He was most recently the managing editor of the site and has been on staff since 2017. Meanwhile, Kaitlyn Jakola (@kaitlynjakola) is leaving Business Insider to assume the managing editor role at Gizmodo later this month.

New NYT newsletter coming? Shira Ovide (@ShiraOvide) has joined The New York Times (@nytimes) to help lead a new tech newsletter. The forthcoming newsletter will highlight tech coverage and columns offered by the Times, including the intersection of tech with culture, politics, industry and more.

Gartner analyst joins Avaya: Simon Harrison has left his role at Gartner (@Gartner_inc), where he was research director and lead analyst for the unified communications and contact center industry, to join Avaya as senior vice president and chief marketing officer. The move is effective as of January 27.
