Blackstone acquires IDG: Private equity funds managed by Blackstone have entered into a definitive agreement to acquire International Data Group, Inc. (@IDG) from Oriental Rainbow, LLC for $1.3 billion. IDC’s research, data, advisory services, and events leverage more than 1,100 analyst experts worldwide to provide global and local expertise on technology and industry trends in over 110 countries. The company’s publications include CIO, Computerworld, CSO, InfoWorld, Macworld, Network World, PCWorld, and Tech Hive.

Pressman joins Boston Globe: Fortune senior writer Aaron Pressman (@ampressman), who was the main writer for Fortune’s Data Sheet newsletter, has joined the Boston Globe (@bostonglobe) to cover technology. Before Fortune, Pressman worked at Yahoo Finance. He was also a correspondent for Reuters, and he previously reported for Business Week, The Industry Standard, TheStreet.com and Bloomberg, among others
