UBM Tech events update for 2013

UBM Tech has made some additions to their B-to-B events schedule for 2013, as well as some personnel changes, and Calysto would like to give you a heads up about what’s new, what’s changed, and why.

What new events will we see in 2013? Mobile commerce, 4G and the cloud.

Mobile Commerce World, June 24-26, 2013 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. “The mobile commerce market is now growing 40%+ per year, and by 2016, $1 trillion of revenue will be generated by mobile commerce.” This event is for business and technology executives who are charting their own mobile commerce efforts in retail, ticketing, online marketplaces, content and entertainment, health services and more.

4G World Delhi, April 25-26, 2013 at the Epicentre, Gurgaon. A recent Pyramid Research report indicates that LTE subscriptions in Asia-Pacific will top all other regions by 2014, which led to an Indian leg of 4G World this year, presented by Light Reading India, the telecom vertical at UBM Tech. The event will provide a 360 degree view of the entire ecosystem of 4G technologies (3G, HSPA+, LTE FDD/TDD, WiFi and WiMax) and also touch upon both the technical and business issues being faced by the telcos in the rollout of 4G networks.

Cloud Connect China, September 5-7, 2013 at Shanghai International Convention Center.  With the growth of the cloud computing service market, UBM Tech Cloud Connect is currently held in Silicon Valley, Chicago, India and now Shanghai.

In addition, the company plans to continue to grow and strengthen Interop and Enterprise Connect this year.  Here’s the UBM Tech 2013 events calendar.

Any changes with the Light Reading events group?

From UBM Tech: “Recently, our Business Technology Media group has made adjustments to the organization that reflects shifting market conditions – print to digital.  Our 2013 plan for Business Technology Media is to create a sustainable business that continues to meet the shifting needs of our customers, clients and the market, and that has sustainable, profitable growth.

For 2013 we have reduced frequency and circulation for InformationWeek, and Financial Services print magazines.  And, we have reduced the number of branded summits we will produce, continuing to focus on our high-growth client event business. While we have a robust integrated, online media and marketing services business and many new digital products, we still have resources aligned with a legacy print infrastructure.

In particular, for our telecommunications segment, Heavy Reading and Pyramid Research continue to be led by Dennis Mendyk, VP of Research at Light Reading. Light Reading brand and product management is handled by Maureen Beattie, Director of Brand and Product Management, reporting into John Ecke, Vice President of Product and Brand Development. And Content and Sales continue to be led by Business Technology Media executives David Berlind, Chief Content Officer and Martha Schwartz, Chief Sales Officer respectively.”

What personnel changes have taken place at UBM Tech?

UBM Tech’s business technology events group recently promoted Marco Pardi to President of the Group. Succeeding him as Executive Vice President of Sales for the business technology events group is Kathleen Connolly. Will Wise has also been promoted to Senior Vice President and leads UBM Electronics events, as well as Interop, Cloud Connect, and GTEC. Lenny Heymann is now leading New Market Development as Executive Vice President.
