Gartner – After more than 13 years, Phil Redman has left his position as Research Vice President, Distinguished Analyst at Gartner. Phil has more than 18 years of experience in the wireless mobile and telecommunications industry focusing on enterprise mobile application development and management, mobile device management software, enterprise strategy, wireless services and products for cellular/PCS, mobile satellite, broadband wireless and paging/messaging networks. Prior to joining Gartner, Phil spent five years at Yankee Group where he was the Associate Director of the analyst firm’s Wireless/Mobile Communications practice. Phil has joined Citrix as Vice President Mobile Solutions & Strategy, focusing on enterprise mobility. He works with internal business units, partners, media, analysts and customers to research, strategize, develop, coordinate and advocate enterprise mobility products. Phil’s replacement has not yet been named.

MobileTrax – Analyst firm Compass Intelligence has acquired MobileTrax, LLC. Compass Intelligence, which does research on mobile and wireless devices, also appointed MobileTrax’s founder, J. Gerry Purdy, Ph.D. as its new chief mobility strategist. Prior to founding MobileTrax, LLC in January 2010, Gerry served as the VP& Chief Analyst, Mobile & Wireless at Frost & Sullivan for more than three years. Compass Intelligence will continue producing MobileTrax’s innovation awards, the Mobility Awards held annually at the Consumer Electronics Show and the Inside Mobile newsletter, Gerry Purdy’s syndicated weekly column that reaches more than 100,000 people each Wednesday under the Compass Intelligence brand.

Connected World Magazine – The publication has announced the launch of the Connected World Conference located within the 2014 Chicago Auto Show. The Connected World Conference will provide the country’s only public display of technologies, products and services developed to enhance the in-car experience. Attendees will include app developers, device makers, software companies and product and car manufacturers that will collectively provide 11 full days of programming during the show. Highlights include the honoring of the Connected Car of the Year award winners. The Connected World Conference will feature multiple exhibition pavilions including the connected car, connected energy, connected healthcare/fitness, and a special start-up pavilion where the innovations of the future will hope to find funding. The Connected World Conference will be held February 6-17, 2014 at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL.
