The Wall Street Journal – Ryan Knutson has joined the new corporate bureau of The Wall Street Journal where he will cover telecom. He is responsible for carriers like Verizon and Sprint, as well as the broader social, technological and security issues inherent in the telecom industry. Ryan previously served an Associate Producer and Reporter at PBS FRONTLINE. Farhad Manjoo is also joining The Journal in San Francisco as a Columnist covering technology companies, issues, people, products and trends. He most recently served as a Technology Columnist at Slate where he wrote about major tech companies, new media and controversies. Farhad has also worked as a Technology Writer at Salon and Wired. The Wall Street Journal has an average weekday circulation of 2.4 million, including print and digital subscribers.
Beecham Research – Saverio Romeo has been named Principal Analyst for Beecham Research’s M2M and Internet of Things practice. Saverio comes to Beecham Research from Frost & Sullivan, and, before that, the European Commission. He has more than ten years analyst experience covering a broad spectrum of communications market activities including: the evolution of the mobile industry, mobile healthcare, smart cities and smart energy, as well as a specific focus on data analytics, mobile software ecosystems and the Internet of Things.

RTG – The Rural Wireless Association announces name change to RWA to better reflect the association’s mission and focus as “the voice of rural wireless through our advocacy efforts on the Hill and at the FCC.” RWA’s Annual Meeting included elections to the Board of Directors. Newly elected directors are Craig Gates, CEO of DTC Communications and Michael Kilgore, CEO and General Manager of Sagebrush Cellular. Re-elected to the board were Shawn Hanson, General Manager and CEO of Panhandle Telephone Cooperative, Inc. and Andrew Silberstein, Vice President/General Manager of Globecomm Network Services. RWA is a trade association representing rural wireless carriers who each serve fewer than 100,000 subscribers.
