Welcome to PR Vibes™, created by Calysto Communications to provide you with key insights into the publications and events in the telecommunications industry. Today, we’re featuring a short interview with Michael Genaro, executive vice president of operations at TMC, to provide you with some background about the upcoming TMC Editorial Open House that will take place August 12 at TMC’s Norwalk, CT headquarters. Enjoy!

What’s your vision for TMC’s Editorial Open House? What do you hope to accomplish?

This will be the second TMC Editorial Open House we’ve held since we moved into our current office space this past January. Our goal with each open house is to afford as many companies as possible the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the editorial team covering their markets. Our vision is simply to host companies here in Norwalk and allow them to provide briefings, new product announcements, or other news directly to the editors who convey this news to the marketplace.

The concept for TMC’s Editorial Open House has actually been tested in remote locations all across the United States – most recently in mid-July at the Marriott Hotel in San Jose. During that three-day event, the TMC team met with no less than 101 companies representing a cross-section of industries. The event proved that “press tours” remain a vital element of the marketing mix for companies at any stage of their development, and TMC is eager to develop and enhance relationships with the newsmakers and innovators driving markets forward.

Can you share some information about the format?

Each company will have a 30-minute briefing with a team of TMCnet/TMC editors. They will be given the opportunity to record a five-minute video interview with Rich Tehrani or Erik Linask, which will be produced and published on TMCnet, and they will also meet with marketing representatives from TMC magazines, Web sites and conferences/expos.

How many attendees are you expecting, and what types of companies will be represented?

We anticipate hosting as many as 40 companies from the various markets covered on TMCnet and its affiliated sites: IP communications, information technology, technology for verticals, smart grid, 4G wireless, M2M (machine-to-machine), satellite and cable communications and smart products.

Can you shed some insight on networking at the event?

With as many as 40 companies converging in our offices, attendees can expect many impromptu networking opportunities for our attendees to gain insight into current market conditions. In addition, the day will conclude with a formal reception for all with complimentary refreshments and beverages.
