Gillott joins WIA: Our Congratulations go out to Iain Gillott, who has officially joined WIA as VP of Technology and Innovation. A seasoned global industry speaker as well as the founder and president of wireless industry authority, iGR (Iain Gillott Research, Inc.), Iain has been involved in the wireless industry for more than 30 years, in vendor and analyst roles, including Group Vice President at IDC.

Having worked with the WIA team for 13 years on a project and contract basis. Gillott referenced how on his first day he ‘felt like a college kid who has just got his first real job!.’ WIA’s President and CEO, Patrick Halley, referred to the past collaborations, including ‘critical industry research’ and Iain’s help in leading ‘membership initiatives like the Innovation and Technology Council and the In-Building Forum.’  “In this era of rapid technological advancement”, Halley said, “we are excited to continue to have Iain’s depth of experience to help WIA deliver the latest market and technology insights for our members.”

Heavy Reading joins OMDIA: OMDIA and Heavy Reading went official last month as the Heavy Reading brand was retired after almost 25 years. In a LinkedIn post, Jim Hodges, Cloud and Security Research Director, introduced the Omdia Go-to- Market (GTM): Telecom Insights & Advisory team: Ruth Brown, Gabriel Brown, Sterling Perrin, and Simon Stanley and talked about the positive transition for the publication, which will continue to publish content on the Light Reading site.

Donegan becomes Senior Editor of Light Reading: After a more than 12-years stint as a freelance writer, reporter and editor, Michelle Donegan has returned to Light Reading as senior editor covering mobile, 5G and 6G in US and Europe. Michelle has been writing about the telecoms sector since the early 90’s and during her years as a freelancer was a regular contributor to Mobile Europe, Mobile World Live, TelcoTitans, TM Forum, and more.

Forbes hires Tong: Anna Tong announced she was excited to join Forbes to tell the deeper stories about the people behind the AI revolution. Previously she covered AI as a tech correspondent for Reuters.

Schaul changes roles at The Washington Post: Self-described hacker/journalist, Kevin Schaul, is now a Visual Reporter covering AI. Schaul has been at the Post since 2014, where he has worked primarily as a graphics reporter. In his new role, he is using data, visuals and code to examine how AI works and its real-world implications.

Financial Times launches AI Newsletter: The AI Shift, from the FT, just launched as a weekly newsletter for premium subscribers. Published every Thursday, the first edition is free to non-subscribers.

Changes at POLITICO: James Bikales changes role to become an energy reporter at POLITICO, covering oil and gas policy. He says he’ll continue keeping an eye on critical minerals and mining in this new role. Elsewhere, Calder McHugh leaves his role as Deputy Editor of POLITICO Nightly to become tech culture and politics reporter.

Leipzig joins S&P Global: Parker Leipzig is taken on as a reporter for S&P Global Commodity Insights, where she will cover America’s natural gas news.

Freydefont and Green join the Financial Times: Gaia Freydefont is hired as a writer of the flagship investment column, Lex, and Toby Green as Assistant UK News Editor, who joins the publication following an 8-year stint at The Times.
