Chief Marketing Officer Michael O’Hara has suddenly left the organization that runs Mobile World Congress in the run-up to the February event in Barcelona. O’Hara joined the GSMA in 2008 and helped the Barcelona event to double in size to more than 100,000 attendees, while also growing the organization’s now annual Shanghai event and creating a US event, MWCA. Before joining the GSMA, he held senior marketing roles at Microsoft, where he was General Manager for Marketing and Industry Management within the Communications Sector. Head of LatAm Sebastian Caballo has also left the organization after 12 years. Replacements have not yet been named.
