CNET, Mashable and Yankee Group

CNET – Paul Sloan has been named Editor-in-Chief of CNET News, up from his previous role as Executive Editor for the site since January 2010 covering consumer technology, social media companies and emerging business models that are at the intersection of technology and entertainment. Throughout his career, Paul has held positions at several popular news outlets including, Fortune, US News & World Report, CNN’s Moneyline, the Chicago Tribune and Bloomberg News. CNET’s site attracts more than 32 million users per month.

Mashable – Jim Roberts has joined the team at Mashable as Executive Editor and Chief Content Officer, where he covers technology and social media. He spent much of his career at The New York Times since 1987, where he most recently served as Assistant Managing Editor before taking a company buyout in January. He then worked briefly at Reuters Digital where he served as executive editor but left the company in September, when Reuters canceled Next, its consumer-facing website that had been in the works for more than two years. Mashable receives more than 20 million unique visitors each month.

Yankee Group – Cloud analyst, Zeus Kerravala; BSS analyst, Susan McNeice and Mobile Payments analyst, James Wester have all resigned from Yankee Group’s affiliate program, while Mobile Marketing and Commerce analyst, Cherian Abraham has joined to the program. James Wester joined IDC as a Research Director, leading the Financial Insights Global Payments Practice.
