CIO – Matt Kapko joined CIO.com as a senior writer covering social media, enterprise collaboration and digital marketing. Prior to this, Matt was a journalist at Eye on Media covering the convergence of mobility, media and technology. He’s also worked as a features editor and reporter at RCR Wireless News. CIO magazine has a circulation of 140,000 CIOs and high-level IT executive readers.
Ovum/Informa Telco & Media Research – Analyst firms Ovum and Informa Telecoms and Media (ITM) Research, both divisions of Informa plc, will merge under the Ovum brand, to create the world’s largest telecoms industry research firm and the fourth-largest technology analyst house globally. The new firm will offer analysis across the converging IT, media and telecoms industries, and including new channels covering telco IT, customer engagement, enterprise mobility, telco enterprise services, digital media and music. The merged business, which will be fully integrated by the end of May, will be led by Steve Hotham, current MD of Ovum, who will become its CEO. Spread across 23 offices, in six continents, Ovum will employ 275 staff, including 180 analysts providing a combination of global and local insight. Hotham will be supported by a senior management team drawn from both the merging organizations. Ian Charlesworth is now MD for Ovum’s IT research, alongside Tim Jennings as IT Chief Research Officer. Martin Hill is now MD for Ovum’s Telecoms and Media (T&M) research, with Mark Newman as T&M Chief Research Officer and Richard Mahony and Rob Gallagher as Research Directors for Telecoms and Media & Entertainment research, respectively.
GigaOM – Alex Colon has left his position as mobile reporter at GigaOM to rejoin PCMag.com as senior electronics analyst. Alex had been with GigaOM since July 2013. Prior to that, he was a mobile analyst for PC Magazine from December 2010 to July 2013. Alex’s replacement has not yet been named. GigaOM has a monthly global audience of more than 5.5 million.
InformationWeek – Alison Diana joined InformationWeek as senior editor. She previously served as editor, Internet Evolution for DeusM from November 2013 until February 2014. Prior to that, she was editor in chief, 21st Century IT from March 2012 until November 2012. InformationWeek reaches more than 440,000 business technology professionals each week.
