451 Research Layoffs and more

451 Research – There was a big round of layoffs at 451 Research recently, with a reported 14 people (8 analysts and a handful of other staff) getting the axe. Those let go include Director, Network Research, Peter Christy who spent four years with the firm, running the Network Practice and is now “delightfully unemployed”. Also on the chopping block was Declan Lonergan, Vice President in charge of 451 Research’s Mobile Telecom Channel. Declan joined 451 Research with the company’s acquisition of Yankee Group in 2013.

Reportedly, the analysts let go were some of the highest paid on the 451 roster, leading us to believe this decision was strictly financially motivated. 451 recently moved from its affordable Liberty Square offices into a much more upscale office in another part of Boston.  They also went on a hiring spree at the end of last year, but then suffered a dreadful Q4/Q1, so the writing was on the wall.
