Virgo Publishing has cancelled the June 2010 VON Conference & Expo but has retained nearly all of the VON staff to provide additional focus to the growing online properties of VON and xchange. The traditional conference/tradeshow format is not the long-term successful approach, said Mike Saxby, group publisher, Telecom Division, Virgo Publishing, so Virgo has made the decision to look into new approaches for accomplishing the same goals more effectively. “We weren’t getting the kind of traction we wanted for the 2010 event,” Saxby said. “We don’t want to put our customers at risk and decided that canceling the event for 2010 was the right thing to do.” At this point, Virgo is focused on the online properties and exploring possibilities within the spectrum of conference and virtual events.
