The market research firm has spun off as an independent company from former owner, Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier. The firm also has received backing from consumer and retail information provider, The NPD Group. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. “As a nimble, independent and reputable market research firm, we see this change as a tremendous opportunity to better serve our customers with industry-leading research focused on the Digital Entertainment and Mobile Internet ecosystems,” said Mark Kirstein, In-Stat CEO. “The NPD Group’s backing of, and alliance with, our business will accelerate our ability to execute on our vision and open new strategic opportunities for both companies.”
