The 451 Group – Carl Howe has left his position as Vice President, Data Sciences Research, at The 451 Group, which was recently established with the acquisition of Yankee Group. He lead 451’s quantitative research in global mobility while analyzing and predicting the future of mobile devices. Prior to the acquisition, Carl, along with Brian Partridge, led Yankee Group’s research team. He also headed up the mobility quantitative research and modeling group. Carl was with 451/Yankee for more than six years. His replacement has not yet been named. Stay tuned to PR Vibes for updates.
Infonetics – Mobility and networking expert John Byrne has joined Infonetics as Directing Analyst, M2M and IoT. His areas of coverage include: connected home (security, entertainment, social, productivity), connected car (infotainment, telematics), connected health (mHealth, healthcare), connected device (smartphones, tablets, mobile broadband devices), smart grid (utility), and transport (asset management). Previously, John served as the North American Communications Industry Research Lead at Accenture , focusing on the IoT, mobility, digital services, and cloud services. John was also Research Director of IDC’s wireless network infrastructure program, where he contributed to the firm’s first M2M taxonomy. John replaces Godfrey Chua.
Machina Research – Godfrey Chua joins Machina Research as Principal Analyst focused on the M2M, IoT and Big Data markets. Godfrey will primarily focus on the US market, as well as intelligent buildings and connected consumer devices. He previously led M2M and IoT research for Infonetics for less than two years. Prior to this, Godfrey held positions at Juniper Networks, ACG Research, IDC and Pyramid Research.
Wired – Davey Alba has joined Wired as staff writer covering business. She previously worked as a senior associate editor for Popular Mechanics starting in May, and joined the publication originally as associate editor in September 2013. She also served as a freelance researcher for Wired in 2011.Wired has a circulation of 1.5 million monthly readers.
EJL Wireless Research – Maury Wood has joined EJL as a Principal Analyst. Maury will expand EJL’s research focus and coverage into the ecosystem of Mobile, Enterprise and Carrier WiFi technologies, including semiconductor chipsets, access points, applications, networks and service providers. Maury had previously worked at Broadcom Corporation, NXP Semiconductors, and Analog Devices ,as well as several other semiconductor and defense/aerospace systems companies.
