TechCrunch – Eric Eldon has left his role as co-editor. He had been with the site since joining in November 2011. Matthew Panzarino has been promoted to co-editor, alongside Alexia Tsotsis, replacing Eric. He most recently served as senior editor, responsible for breaking news. Additionally, Leena Rao was promoted to managing editor, up from her previous role as senior editor, covering Silicon Valley since February 2012.TechCrunch receives 14.7 million unique visitors per month.

The Wall Street Journal –  Technology columnist Farhad Manjoo will be leaving The Wall Street Journal for The New York Times in February. He will take over the “State of the Art” column formerly penned by David Pogue (now at Yahoo Tech), reviewing new software and devices. Farhad originally joined WSJ in September 2013 where he covered Silicon Valley. In his new role, he will be based out of the Times’ San Francisco bureau. Ben Rooney has also left his post at The Wall Street Journal Europe, where he served as technology editor at the London, UK bureau since 2010. From 1996 to 2000, Rooney served as a technology editor for The Daily Telegraph. His replacement has not yet been named. The WSJ has an average weekday circulation of 2.4 million, including print and digital subscribers.

Re/code – Nellie Bowles has been named as a reporter covering technology culture and new trends. She comes from the San Francisco Chronicle where she served as a business reporter covering technology and features since September 2012. Additionally, James Temple will serve as senior editor covering healthcare and science topics. He was also previously with the San Francisco Chronicle where he served as a technology columnist since June 2011. The newly launched Re/code has more than 5,000 Facebook fans.

FierceWireless:Europe – FierceWireless:Europe and TelecomsEMEA, who share the same parent company: Questex Media Group, have been combined into a single newsletter and web site. The frequency has increased to three times per week (every Monday, Wednesday and Friday), enabling them to provide additional coverage of the European mobile scene, as well as bring readers the latest wireless news from the Middle East and Africa. FierceWireless:EuropeEditor Anne Morris continues in her role and she is joined by Michael Carroll, formerly of TelecomsEMEA, now the Managing Editor of FierceWireless:Europe. More than 30,000 European wireless professionals subscribe to FierceWirelessEurope/TelecomsEMEA.

Microwave Journal – TheHorizon House technical publication has released the industry’s first interactive technical magazine that uses the augmented reality app Layar to overlay digital information onto the pages. When readers scan the pages of the January edition that are marked with the “Scan page using Layar app” logo with their mobile device, digital information is overlaid onto the print page. Readers will be able to experience more engaging rich media delivered automatically and can tap the screen to view other related information. Videos and animations appear to “play out of the page” in the augmented reality mode.  Microwave Journal will continue to offer interactive content in its issues going forward. Microwave Journal has more than 50,000 subscribers.
