Gerry Purdy/Mobilocity – AOTMP, telecom management certification provider and organizer of the AOTMP Telecom Management Conferences for Enterprises and Vendors, has acquired Mobilocity LLC and hired J. Gerry Purdy, Ph.D. as Principal Analyst, Mobile & Wireless to support AOTMP’s growth and expansion plans in the mobile and wireless arena. Purdy’s responsibilities will include market research, conferences & events and a number of certification programs. He’ll report to Bill Hinton, VP & GM, Vendor Practice. Purdy’s weekly column, “Mobile Letter”, will now be distributed under the AOTMP brand to 100,000+ readers each week. Additionally, AOTMP will continue the Mobility Awards program, which will be held on January 5, 2017 at CES in Las Vegas.
ReadWrite – Tech site Readwrite.com – originally founded as ReadWriteWeb in 2003 – has rebranded as an IoT thought leadership platform. The site will cover autonomous vehicles, industrial IoT, platforms, data and security, and smart cities. Leading the change in direction is Trevor Curwin, Editor-in-Chief since February 2016. Forbes named ReadWrite one of the top 100 websites for entrepreneurs in 2015.
Recode – Arik Hesseldahl has departed tech news site Recode, where he served as a senior editor since January 2014. Prior to joining Recode, Hesseldahl was an enterprise reporter for The Wall Street Journal’s All Things Digital, a tech reporter for Bloomberg Businessweek, and a columnist for Forbes.com. A replacement has not been named.
EE Times – Component distributor Arrow Electronics has acquired a number of publishing assets in North America and Asia from UBM, including EE Times, EDN, Embedded.com and TechOnline. This follows Arrow’s acquisition of United Technical Publishing in February 2015 and its purchase of ICC Media, publisher of Embedded Control Europe, last December. A vendor now controls the biggest media channels used by electronics engineers. EE Times alone receives three million page views per month.
