Carol Wilson, the editor-in-chief of TelephonyOnline and Connected Planet, is joining Light Reading beginning October 26, 2009. Carol will take on the role of Chief Editor, Events at Light Reading. She will report to Phil Harvey, Editor-in-Chief and Joe Braue, Light Reading’s Group Director and Senior VP. According to Phil Harvey, Carol will help expand and enrich Light Reading’s daily telecom industry news analysis, and will add even more value to its Webinars and Live Events programming. In addition to writing news and blogs for Light Reading, Carol’s unique role will give her exposure to all facets of the company. She’ll be able to use that experience to make sure the conference topics, Webinar discussions, and event panels are as up-to-date and as the news they provide on the site each day. The addition of Carol gives Light Reading a chance to improve the breadth and depth of Light Reading’s editorial coverage of the telecom, cable, and wireless markets. Carol has more than 20 years experience covering telecommunications. She was with Telephony magazine for the past 11 years, she was also the founding editor of Interactive Week, The Net Economy, and the news Website upstart, Broadband Edge. Carol’s duties will be handled by Rich Karpinski, as interim editor. Rich began his career at Telephony nearly 20 years ago; holding positions as assistant editor, news director and technical editor. He has also held an assortment of reporting and editing positions in the telecom and IT industry, including Interactive Age, NetGuide, Communications Week, InternetWeek and Network Computing. Rich returned to Penton Media and Telephony in 2007, and has most recently been executive editor-features for TelephonyOnline and Connected Planet. We will follow-up with Carol’s permanent replacement at Telephony….. Watch Here!
