Carol Wilson Back at Light Reading, Changes at Wired, InformationWeek and more

Light Reading – Carol Wilson has been appointed Editor-at-Large at UBM’s Light Reading. She previously joined the publication in 2009 as Chief Editor of Events, until March 2013 when she left to join The TeleManagement Forum (TM Forum) as an editor. Carol’s return is a part of a major overhaul going on at Light Reading as it prepares to unveil a new design, additional multimedia functionality, and greater engagement with the global communications industry community. Additionally, Carol will serve as the Dean of the new Light Reading University, which will offer online courses on key industry developments. Carol will report to Editor-in-Chief Ray Le Maistre. She will officially return on July 8, 2013; which coincides with the unveiling of the newly-designed Light Reading, providing technology news and analysis for more than 300,000 subscribers each month.

Wired – Susan Murcko has rejoined Wired as a senior editor. She previously held the same position at the magazine from October 1999 to August 2006 where she developed and edited features and cover stories for the publication. She most recently served as a consultant for Discover MagazineWired and Wired.com reach more than 14 million readers each month.

Frost & Sullivan – Ronald Gruia has been promoted from Principal Analyst for Emerging Telecom to Director, Emerging Telecoms. He’s been with the analyst firm since February 2001. His main focus areas include NGN migration strategies, IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystems), 4G (LTE, WiMAX), FMC, VoIP, Next-Gen Carrier Messaging Platforms, IPTV, Triple Play Services, IP Centrex, Enterprise Communications Systems and Unified Communications, among others.

InformationWeek – Michael Biddick has left his position as a contributing technology editor after writing for the publication for more than six years. His areas of coverage included cloud computing and big data. He also serves as the CEO of an IT services company. Also gone is John Foley, editor of the InformationWeek Government section. John lead the publication’s editorial coverage of technology implementation and strategy in federal, state, and local government. Additionally, leaving the publication as of July 1 are web producer Joy Culbertson and managing editor of newsletters, Tom LaSusa.  InformationWeek reaches more than 440,000 business technology professionals each week.

Nemertes Research – Tim Smith has been named Senior Analyst, providing technology and business analysis and advice to enterprises and vendors in the unified communications space. Prior to this, Tim served as Vice President – Product Management at Current Analysis for one year, where he was responsible for directing the evolution of Current Analysis’ product offerings to meet changing market needs. Tim has also held various analyst positions at Nerac, TJS Consulting and Gartner.
