Yahoo Tech – Rafe Needleman, the former Editor-at-Large at CNET has left his most recent position as Director of Developer Relations at Evernote. He has joined Yahoo as Editorial Director of the brand new Yahoo Tech site. Rafe has covered technology and business since 1988. He started at InfoWorld as a reviews editor. Following that, he launched Corporate Computing magazine. He also served as the editor-in-chief of Byte and the editor of Redherring.com. He was the editor of CNET.com in 1996 and he returned to CNET in 2004 as editor of business technology before leaving for Evernote in 2012.

The Wall Street Journal – Wilson Rothman has joined WSJ as the Personal Technology Editor. In his new role he oversees product reviews, personal tech news and coverage strategy for the personal tech team. Wilson was previously with NBCNews.com where he served as a Technology and Science Editor. Additionally, Geoffrey Fowler has recently been appointed Personal Technology Columnist at The Wall Street Journal. Previously, he served as the Deputy Technology Editor. The WSJ has an average weekday circulation of 2.4 million, including print and digital subscribers.

AllThingsD – The Wall Street Journal officially parted ways with the AllThingsD brand on Jan 1, following the expiration of the contract between AllThingsD and News Corp. In its place, the paper launched WSJDThe Wall Street Journal’s new home for technology news, analysis, commentary, daily buzz and consumer-product reviews. They will also be launching a global technology conference under the WSJD brand. The conference will be held October 27-29, 2014 in Laguna Beach, CA.

Re/code – Following their split from The WSJ, AllThingsD founders Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher have launched a new media company, Re/code.net. The site will take the place of AllThingsD, featuring technology news, events and reviews, and will additionally serve as a partner on technology coverage with NBC News Group.

Reuters – Kenneth Li recently departed Reuters where he served as Editor-at-Large. During his time at Reuters, he also served as Editor-in-Charge of Technology, Media and Telecoms and Global Editor of Reuters.com. He has taken on the position of Managing Editor of Re/code. His replacement has not yet been named.

Mergermarket -Thomas Zadvydas is now a Reporter at Mergermarket covering M&A in the Telecom, Media and Technology space. Prior to this, he was most recently a Reporter at The Deal covering middle market and auctions.

Yankee Group – One year ago, Yankee Group was acquired by The 451 Group. Today, Yankee continues to expand this collaboration by making changes to its organizational structure. The 451 Research and Yankee sales teams will now sell both 451 Research and Yankee products through one sales channel.

VP Brian Partridge whose coverage areas have included M2M, CDN and NGN, will lead the overall Yankee research team. Carl Howe will still contribute to Yankee research and data products, but will now primarily work toward improving and standardizing methodologies, processes and visualizations of data products across The 451 Group portfolio.

CEO Terry Waters is set to leave after three years at the helm of the organization, to pursue other opportunities. As for coverage, Yankee Group will continue to grow its new mobility focus, while also renewing its commitment to its traditional operator base.
