Randolph Pitzer boasts nearly 30 years of agency and corporate experience working in all facets of corporate and marketing communications, including reputation management, financial, crisis and issues management, sustainability, and marketing support. He managed and implemented campaigns in the enterprise technology, communications and industrial b-to-b sectors.
He has strategic implementation experience in creating external communications and marketing programs that addressed clients business needs for an array of technology firms, including AT&T Wireless, Canon, EDS, Epson, Fujitsu, GE, GN Netcom, Manugistics, Metavante/FIS, Microsoft, Motorola, NTT Verio, PeopleSoft, RCN, Qwest Communications, SPSS, Spyglass, Veritas, PureWrx, Mobelisk, Comba, Hoopo, Servato, Baicells, Bango, Wytec, Globecomm, ADB, MicroEJ, Catavolt, and Echoworx.
Randy has a strategic understanding of digital communications around social media, search engine optimization, search engine marketing and mobile marketing.
He is experienced in working with OEM/private label oriented organizations and firms focusing on the channel as an important part of their distribution model, including Canon, Epson, and NTT Verio.
Randy has helped two firms, SPSS and Spyglass, engage in initial public offerings (IPO). Spyglass, an early internet leader, had one of the most successful IPOs in history. His support helped the price per share of Spyglass stock go from $17/share at offering time to $144/share within two years.
He presently holds the position of principal of Dream Bucket, Inc., a communications consulting firm.
Previously, Randy was Managing Director of Porter Novelli’s Chicago office where he focused on consumer, healthcare, technology and industrial b-to-b accounts. During his time at Porter Novelli, he spearheaded communications and marketing programs for CDC, Dow, Johnson & Johnson, Manhattan Associates, McDonald’s, Monster.com, Styron, and Veolia (transportation and water).
At Edelman, he was General Manager of the Chicago Office’s Technology and Business Marketing practice for nearly a decade. He also chaired the global technology practice’s enterprise technology sector and was global lead for the firm’s b-to-b practice. He helped a number of his clients not only successfully leverage public relations, but leverage integrated marketing strategies to achieve real business success. For example, he and his team developed the marketing strategy and wrote the RFP response for Cemusa, an out-of-home advertising firm leveraging bus shelter advertising that won the largest contract in the world (New York), netting Cemusa $1.8 billion in revenue.
Randy has worked internally at companies focusing on the communications sector including Universal Access, a provisioner of optical networks, the Agency for Instructional Technology, producer and distributer of cable television content for children, and Mercantec, developer of shopping cart software that licensed the product to ISPs, including Earthlink, KPN, Telefonica, and NTT.
Randy holds a bachelor’s of journalism degree from the University of Missouri. He has won a number of awards from BMA, NSPRA, PRSA and the Publicity Club of Chicago. He won a local Emmy for television production while working for the St. Louis Public Schools. Randy is on the board of BMA Chicago and Market Creation Group, Denver, CO. He has taught public relations classes at Aurora University and routinely speaks at venues such as the Midwest Venture Capital Association and BMA.
